The book was written in Persian verse by Shaikh Sadi Shirazi 1291 AD, translated in to English by Arthur N Wollaston 1906, and translated in Urdu by Mukhtar Ali, compiled together by Sayid Ashraf Shah 2014. This book covers all the three versions combined and used to be taught to children at an early age and its lessons would remain inscribed in the young minds, which would help build their future character. shaikh Sadi studied in Baghdad for 30 years. He came in contact with common people, shared their joys and sorrows with them. He was kidnapped by Christian crusaders.later attended courts of kings and gathered something from every where and wrote about his experiences in his masterpiece poetry Gulistan and Bostan besides this book and other works.
