The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Mark Twain

Juvenile Fiction / Action & Adventure / Survival Stories

GREAT GIFT FOR BOOK LOVERS!Discover American history through a master piece from Mark Twain! Some of the literary scholars have treated the book as one of the greatest American works of art. This marvelous book was originally published in 1885, 20 years after the American Civil War but close enough historically that most white people still held their pre Civil War views on racial justice. However Twain is not satisfied to simply attack racial inequalities, he assails the social hierarchy of the white class system as well. Twain skillfully combines the two in the character of Huckleberry's father, ludicrously poor but he still had a group on the social ladder bellow him, he could look down upon. Some commentators in our time consider the book as racist. Shortly after publication it was banished from the shelves of the Concord Public Library. At the same time the book has been on required high school reading lists for more than a century.
