Gentlemen -the report of the Superintendent of Public Instruction which I have the honor, in accordance with the requirements of law, here with to submit, is divided into two parts: First, the matter presented by the Superintendent for the special consideration of the Legislature; and second, in the form of an appendix, the usual statistical tables and state ments, with such comments and suggestions as seem appropriate. The documents issued in connection with the Centennial Exposition, are alse appended as a matter of history. The first part of the report contains an account of Ihe Pennsylvania educational exhibit at the Centennial Exposi tion, and a summary of facts gathered In connection with the Exposition concerning the educational systems and policy of foreign nations, together with a statement of some of the lessons we may learn therefrom.
