Papa Don

Donald J. Thorn

Fiction / General

This is a story of a 15-year prisoner of the Vietnam War who used his mustering out pay to buy a warehouse in New York City. He converted it into a playground for homeless disadvantaged children he found in the underbelly of the New York slums. It didn't matter the race, color or creed, each child was clothed, fed, housed, and fully home schooled. They were given plenty of love, hugs, and kisses. The warehouse was a self-contained unit with bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, classrooms, recreation room, sports palace, swimming pool, dance and art hall, and a fully stocked garden with vegetables and fruit trees. Everything in this veteran's life was going very well and he had many 18-year-old graduates who became great contributors to society. The problem occurs when the child protective services finds out there are fifteen children living with a single man. All hell breaks loose.
