To go backpacking around Asia on crutches three weeks after having surgery to repair a smashed-up foot was, at the least, ill-advised, foolhardy, and a potential recipe for disaster, if not just plain stupid. Common sense doesn't always win the argument though, and, throwing caution to the wind, Bill and Anita decide to risk it and set off all the same. Happily, the trip proves to be one of their best adventures ever and just the tonic they needed. Struggling to adapt to the heat, the discomfort, and the problems that come with the new-found disability, they meet a host of wonderful people and are reminded that the world really is filled with love, care and compassion. And while having lots of fun and making marvellous memories, Bill gradually discovers that it's more than just his foot that needed healing.
