What to read after Learning Japanese?

I have been studying Japanese for - for quite some time and have never found a book that would teach me what I wanted to learn and how I wanted to learn it. I always found that the books I purchased had a lot of extra information, drawings, examples, stories etc... that I did not want to see so I decided to take all of my experience both good and bad in learning Katakana to create this no-nonsense / no BS… straight to the point and start reading Katakana book since I couldn’t find anything like it.
