Kidnapped is a fictional adventure story of a young boy written by Robert Louis Stevenson. Recently orphaned David Balfour of Essendean meets the minister Mr. Campbell who asks him to go to the house of Shaws, home of his father. On his way, he learns that the house has a disputable reputation. The door is opened by an old man, Ebenezer, and David is surprised to know that this is his uncle. Surviving a murder attempt and then discovering his inheritance, David is fooled into boarding a ship. He realises too late that he is, in fact, being kidnapped.
