Having received instructions from the Lords Commis sioners Of Her Majesty's Treasury, to examine and describe, for the purpose Of publication, the organic remains of the older strata of Cornwall, Devon, and West Somerset, which had been Observed in the course Of the Ordnance Geological Survey Of the district, I was immediately furnished by the Director Of the Survey with abundance Of materials for study, and references to private collections and localities in the district.
