Electricity and Magnetism

Betty Isabelle Bleaney , Brebis Bleaney

Science / Physics / Electricity

Reprint of the third edition (1976) of a text for advanced undergraduates, handily split now into two volumes. Previous editions appeared in 1957 and 1965. The text has for a long time been standard within the British university system. The considerable strengths, but also the limitations, of the work derive from its very practical orientation; Volume I ($19.95) treats basic principles and applications to circuit theory and waveguides; Volume II ($26.95) treats the electromagnetic properties of materials, but the relativistic aspects of electrodynamics are nowhere even mentioned, nor is radiation theory. The writing is very clear and explicit, and there are exercises at the end of most of the 24 chapters. Attractively produced and priced. (NW) Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
