Amavata is a common joint disorder mentioned in Ayurveda. Ama is considered as an undigested or unmetabolized toxic material present in the body which in combination with the vitiated vata dosha sheltered in multiple joints create joint pain, swelling, stiffness and on progression of the disease deformity may develop. Rheumatoid Arthritis which is similar to Amavata disease is an autoimmune disease that results in a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder which may affect many tissues and organs, but principally attack's flexible (Synovial) joints. It can be a disabling and painful condition, which can lead to substantial loss of functioning and mobility if not adequately treated. World wise 0.5 - 1% population is suffering from this disease.Yet no such specific medicine discovered to completely cure this disease. Ayurveda the ancient science of life have ample of reference to treating this type of conditions since long back .Keeping in mind I had selected a poly herbal compound i.e. Satyadi Yoga from the book Yogaratnakara (book in around 17th Century) for the study. It contains seven herbs (Sati, Sunthi, Haritaki, Vacha, Devadaru, Ativisha and Guduchi). In Assam a plant known as Bor-Bih Dhekia (Sphaerostephanos Unitus L.) is used by different traditional healers in different ways to treat joint pain.It was taken for the study to scientifically evaluate the efficacy. Aim and objectives of the research work was

1. Aetiopathological study of Amavata vis a vis Rheumatoid Arthritis

2. To study the effect of Satyadi Yoga in Amavata (Rheumatoid Arthritis).

3. To study the effect of Bor- Bih Dhekia (Sphaerostephanos Unitus L) in Amavata.

Total 120 patients were selected from OPD & IPD of Govt. Ayurvedic College,
