Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' is the best known work of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832 - 1898), better known by his pen name, 'Lewis Carroll'. Maria Louise Kirk (1860 - 1938) was more specifically a children's illustrator, whose characteristic style included exceptionally technically-well-executed children, with bright foregrounds and foreboding dark backgrounds.
