Medical / General

Hepatitis C infection (HCV) and its associated complications are significant causes of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. This article highlights the importance of HCV prevention in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis. The book reviews the benefits and potential adverse effects of peginterferon alpha (PEG-IFN-α) therapy, analyzing “two sides of the same coin,” so to speak. The uniqueness of the book is reflected in the national and multicenter analysis of the effects of PEG-IFN-α therapy in Montenegro, which provides the possibility of comparing the obtained results with the experiences of clinicians (nephrologists, pharmacologists, and postgraduate research doctors) from other countries. This book intends to raise awareness in healthcare communities and individuals about the importance of HCV prevention in patients with chronic kidney disease.
