ABOUT THE BOOK AND AUTHOR

A Christmas Carol is a novella written by Charles Dickens (1812-1870) and was first published in 1843. It is among his most popular works. The original title was A Christmas Carol, in Prose: Being a Ghost Story of Christmas.

It is the first of five Christmas novellas by Charles Dickens. The five novellas are A Christmas Carol (1843), The Chimes (1844), The Cricket on the Hearth (1845), The Battle of Life (1846) and The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain (1848).

A Christmas Carol tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, as well as the ghost of his former business partner. After these visits, Mr. Scrooge transforms into a gentler, kinder man.
